I’m Maddi, the heart and hands behind Lumber & Letters. I’ve spent years mastering the crafts of woodworking, furniture building, carpentry, and fine finishing — skills that go far beyond simple décor. As both an artist and a craftswoman, I bring a unique blend of technical expertise and creative vision to every piece I design. My work is about more than construction; it’s about elevating everyday materials into something meaningful, lasting, and beautiful.

Woodworking runs deep in my family. Inspired by generations of skilled tradesmen, especially my Paw Paw, I learned early on the importance of precision, patience, and pride in every detail. Today, as a master carpenter, I carry those values into every project, ensuring each sign is made with structural integrity and thoughtful artistry.

In 2016, I founded Lumber & Letters as a way to share that passion for design and craftsmanship. Every sign is handmade by me — layered, engraved, and finished with care to create pieces that feel timeless yet deeply personal. These aren’t just decorations; they are heirloom-quality works designed to tell stories and transform spaces.

This is also a family-owned business at its core. My two kids (and our loyal dog, never far from the shop) are my biggest supporters and daily inspiration. Being family-owned means every order matters, and every customer is treated like a neighbor.
